Douglas Phelps enlisted in March 1943 at the age of 21. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a flight sergeant. He went overseas in January 1944.
A news article out of London, England reported Douglas was part of an air strike on a rail junction at Osnabruck in Western Germany in September 1944.
