Wilbert Ferris was born in Cayley AB (40 miles south of Calgary) around 1920. He was the fifth child of Wesley and Lily (Richardson) Ferris, who had come from Ontario and then homesteaded in Cayley AB (close to Calgary.). (His other siblings were: William, Erwin, Arnold, and Marion. In 1922 the family moved to Coronation where the 6th child, Joan, was born. Their next moves were to Vegreville in 1924, and to Bezanson in 1928 where they stayed until 1941. Wilbert joined the Navy in WW II, while his older brothers, William and Erwin joined the Army. Wilbert married Mary Williamson, and they lived in Clairmont.
