James was born in Dromahair, Ireland on April 20, 1891. He came to the Peace Country in 1919 and filed on homesteads at 25-72-12-W6 & 26-72-12-W6. In 1937, James married Lydia Pretzer. The couple had two children, Joyce and Douglas. James died in the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton on December 20, 1961.
