Thrills at the Fair

A Spirit River car salesman performed a spectacular stunt at the fair in 1938. I think even by today’s standards, this would be thrilling to see. I remember something similar at a July 1 Sports Day in the late 1950s, and it was pretty exciting, but it wasn’t a local person. I think that would add to the experience.

In 1938, the Weekly Line-up column warned locals about getting taken in when playing games of chance at the fairs. I’m pretty sure that this practice still exists at fairs and midways as always, but also made the leap to new technology, where people online act as shills in public forums and other places.
