The Monkman Pass Highway Association (MPHA) was formed at Halcourt, Alberta on October 30, 1936 with the purpose of getting a highway outlet from the Peace River district to the Pacific coast for marketing grain and produce. It is a fascinating example of volunteer labour in action.
