Helmer Johnson’s crew working on the Monkman Pass Highway, July 1938. May 1938 saw the beginning of a second season of work on the highway, with two organized work crews supplied by the MPHA and several self-contained crews with their own supplies. They were able to improve the trail cut the previous summer and continue a further 31 miles.
