Agency History

The Many Creeks School opened in 1932 in a small log building on Alex Oliksuk’s homestead. Alex lived in another log house nearby and another was used as a teacherage. Mr. Mc Kitrick was the first teacher, followed by Miss Denmark, Miss Phillips, Miss Barnett and Miss Topping. Eventually a new school was built on Mike Sajtovich’s homestead and used until the consolidation of schools resulted in the students being bussed to Bonanza. School records beginning in 1945 record attendance of 20 children from the following families: Coyes, Kaftan, Kanda, Kut, Lopushinsky, Prime, Sajtovich, Sutherland, Tchoryk, Tomchak, Yanczura, and York.
