Administrative history / Biographical sketch
The New World School District served the area between Silverwood and Woking. Minutes of 1934-35, recorded by Steven Platzer, secretary/treasurer with Steve Boychuk, chairman, record preparations for the building of a school house. In 1936, there was a motion to hire a teacher in July. In 1939, Miss Winnifred Jones was offered a second contract for $675 with a room, wood, water, ice, bed and stove provided. In December, 1940, a trustee was elected to represent the district in the Spirit River School Division.
The records were preserved and given to the Spirit River School Division No. 47 sometime after it was formed in 1940. Peace Wapiti School Division assumed responsibility for this division in 1994 and the records were deposited in the Grande Prairie Regional Archives in 2003.
