Agency History
Public Works deals with the management of Land and Property, Infrastructure, and Cemeteries. Land and Property Management includes the function of managing County owned or leased land including parks, gravel pits, and landfills; and acquiring, disposing, constructing, altering, managing, maintaining, protecting and working in County owned or leased buildings or land. This includes agreements with other municipalities; appeals to the Public Utilities Board by either the County or a person who uses, receives, or pays for a municipal utility service; and inter-municipal disputes regarding utility rates, tolls or charge. Infrastructure Management includes the function of constructing, maintaining, and discontinuing public work structures or systems such as roads, bridges, utility service connections, street lights, traffic lights, and road signs. Cemetery Management includes the function of operating County-owned cemeteries including planning the layout and division of grave lots and compartments; maintaining the cemetery plan; selling services and interment space; keeping a register of sold grave lots, compartments and other space including burial or interment; maintaining and caring for the cemetery grounds; and disinterment or removal of a dead human body. Custodial History
Records have been transferred from the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 to the South Peace Regional Archives in a number of accessions in 2003, 2006, and 2013.
Scope and Content
The sous-fonds consists of a rural road inventory of Wapiti study area #14 done in 1966; 940 plans and blueprints for roads and townsites surveyed in the County of Grande Prairie between 1910 and 2006; 1103 pipeline plans surveyed between 1959-2001; historical information and drawings on the Pipestone Creek ferry; and cemetery management information, registers, and photographs.

The files also include photographic images of Bear Creek Cemetery, Clairmont Mennonite Cemetery, and the Village of Lake Saskatoon.
