It also includes appeals to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board by an applicant, government department or school authority, or appeals to the Municipal Government Board by the County and formal inspections to determine that development, land use or use of a building is in accordance with a development permit or subdivision approval; enforcement of orders and stop orders; and, if required, offences and penalties for non-compliance of an order to remedy a contravention of a statute or bylaw to remedy dangers and unsightly property. Also in this jurisdiction is the establishment of planning authorities such as the Municipal Planning Commission and Joint Municipal Planning Commission; adopting statutory plans such as the Area Redevelopment Plan, Area Structure Plan, Inter Municipal Development Plans and Municipal Development Plans; and passing land use bylaws to prohibit or regulate and control the use and development of land and buildings in the County of Grande Prairie. The centralized permanent land files are kept in Planning and Development, and include permanent information only. Planning and Development files and items are identified with the code PD or SD (Subdivisions).
