Administrative history / Biographical sketch

Lee is a descendent of Andrew Oilund, who came to Canada from Norway in 1927, and settled in the Buffalo Lakes area. In 1928 Andrew was joined by his wife and four children, and later another child was born in Buffalo Lakes. He purchased SW 20-74-7-W6 and NW 17-74-7-W6 where they lived and farmed for nearly 20 years. After Andrew’s retirement and his wife’s death in 1953, the family continued to live in the area and deal with businesses in Buffalo Lakes, Sexsmith and LaGlace.

Custodial history

The collection was donated in 1989 to the Grande Prairie Museum by Lee Oilund, one of Andrew Oilund’s descendants. In 2000 the collection was transferred to the Archives.
