Administrative history / Biographical sketch
John Putters was born in Grande Prairie, attended school in Grande Prairie, graduating from the Grande Prairie High School. His father owned and operated Putters’ Electric in the 1930s-1940s. John was very active in a Grande Prairie Alumni group meeting alternately every year in Edmonton and Calgary for reunions.
Custodial history
The photographs were donated to the South Peace Regional Archives by John Putters in March, 2005. John’s memoirs were donated by Betty Putters in 2014.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of 4 pages of memoirs, 3 CDs, and 12 photographs. One CD contains a photograph slideshow produced for former Grande Prairie residents held in Edmonton on September 14, 2002. Another CD contains scans of 16 photographs, a World War II identification card, and a concert ticket. The third CD contains scans of 134 photographs, which were used for the slideshow on the first CD; they were scanned from originals belonging to people who attended the reunion. Not all of the photographs have been individually described.
