Drainage & Grain Elevators – This Week In History

There was an Editorial in the April 11, 1916 paper complaining about the lack of drainage in the town. In the April 25 edition, the headline was “Council Making Improvements”. Did the newspaper have that much influence, or were improvements already in the works? After driving around Grande Prairie this spring, one can only hope the City will spend at least that much this year fixing potholes!

Also in the April 25th paper was a short note in the “Clairmont News” stating that the first grain elevator on the “the Grande Prairie” would be built at Clairmont. Later in the paper was an article explaining why that was.
