This item from Feb. 17, 1914 describes a church concert which included what the writer describes as “a novelty for this district’ – the acting of a play. The writer goes on to say “we hope this is only the beginning of an Amateur Theatrical Club which should meet with great success in the near future.” This certainly was the case, as from then on there is hardly a newspaper that doesn’t have a report of a play being performed somewhere in the area.
