An article July 13, 1925 states “with its fine sandy beaches, abundance of shade, excellent water to bathe in and the wonderful fishing possibilities, Sturgeon Lake, with a good road to it, could never be prevented from becoming the most popular place in the whole North country during the summer months”. The article then describes the exciting events of the Indian Sports Days on July 1 and 2, stretching to July 4 which included a procession from the Store to the Mission, with fireworks, gun shots in the air and many other antics along the way.
