Seventeen new records were set at the school track meet in Grande Prairie was the headline of the June 1. 1939 paper. Bob Light of Hythe set records as he won all six events in Class C Boys. The meet consisted of 911 individual entries, 31 basketball and softball teams, and 23 teams for relay races, an estimated 1,100 school children.
