While returning from a trip into the bush packing in supplies for a guiding trip, Pete McCullough found several notes along the trail. These led him to a nearly dead flyer who had crashed two weeks before. The Herald printed the story filed by A.K. Watts of Pipestone Creek, and reprinted the article which had appeared in an Edmonton newspaper, telling the story told by the pilot.
