The July 7, 1914 paper featured a photo (very rare in the early papers) of L. A. Johnson who had become the Champion Wrestler of Peace River (country). He had first defeated a local man named Boyd (possibly Fred or Hugh?), then wrestled another local named Onestad, who was defeated not so handily, but defeated nonetheless. Further investigation into Johnson’s record fount that he was also Champion of the Pacific Coast, South and North Dakota, and Sweden – where he was known as the “Terrible Swede”.
