I dare you to read the item headlined “might have been worse” through once and say you understand what it is about! This may have just been a blatant space filler, or the writer was feeling particularly verbose (see I can do it too) that day. In the next column was a note about a trip to Peace River that sounded more interesting, but only got bare bones treatment.
