The mandate of the South Peace Regional Archives is to acquire, preserve, and make available for research records of ongoing value to the south Peace River country of Alberta.
SPRA’s processed holdings include 460 individual collections containing 125 linear metres of textual records, 684 paper artifacts, 62,780 photographic images, 520 maps and blueprints, 387 sound recordings, 193 film and video recordings, and 482 newspapers, and a 1306 volume library.
The records date from 1834 to 2011, with the majority of the material dating from ca. 1920-1960.
Finding aids and descriptions for all of SPRA’s collections are available online, as well as digital copies of many photographs and documents. A selection of sound and video recordings can be viewed on our YouTube channel. Additional material is available at the Archives.
